On the 2nd June 2026, in a seismic legal judgment in the ‘AGNI’ case, the Supreme Court overturned its own decision in the ‘Cheshire West’ case on the meaning of deprivation of liberty.

In this one-day legal masterclass, you will hear directly from four experienced lawyers, including two who were involved in the AGNI case.

Sessions will provide you with a clear understanding of the AGNI judgment, how it affects your practice and how it affects under-18s. There are also sessions focusing more broadly on the legal complexities around mental capacity, including the role of insight and executive functioning, and on the significant challenge of hoarding disorder.
